Cadmium Copper

Cadmium copper is an alloy of copper containing cadmium, usually in low concentrations, that significantly improves the machinability and workability of copper. This alloy provides better lubricity during machining, which reduces tool wear and increases machining efficiency. Due to the addition of cadmium, cadmium-copper alloys are especially favored in the manufacture of precision components, such as threads and gears. Cadmium-copper alloys are also characterized by their good mechanical properties and wear resistance, which make them excellent in applications that require high loads and wear. However, cadmium is a toxic heavy metal, so proper safety measures need to be taken during production and use to protect workers and the environment. However, due to its special properties, cadmium-copper alloys are still irreplaceable materials in some specific industrial applications.
